One-of-a-kind-- THIS TALL FLARED FLOWER VASE HAS THE IMAGE OF THE USS CONSTITUTION and other related images all hand-created by our amazing Cut Glass artist, Carl Miller. There are images of Commander Billie Farrell- the first female captain! The Capital Dome building to represent the ship was to defend the capital. There are also images of The Washington Memorial and the White House and the upper part of Independance Hall. The eagle is carrying the Old Ironside Badge, a mermaid and shells represent the sea,as well as the American Flag on the stern of the ship and oak leaves to represen the White Oak that the ship was made from.
The USS Constitution is a historic wooded ship. The greatest glory for Constitution, however, came during the War of 1812. Constitution's crew defeated four British frigates during three separate engagements. In battle, Constitution earned the nickname "Old Ironsides" because it appeared as if enemy cannonballs could not penetrate the ship's strong oak hull. Launched in Boston in 1797, USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat and earned her nickname "Old Ironsides" during the War of 1812 when she fought the British frigate HMS Guerriere.
