"Each August I wonder where the summer has gone. There’s a quietness about this time of year, like we all know another season is slipping by. The activity in the woods was robust though this evening as I painted the pond. I’ve painted and played on this one my entire life. Although, tonight felt different to me. The flock of blackbirds above my head perched high on the branches of the dead elm tree that dad hasn’t yet dropped, weren’t quite sure about me standing beneath them. I’d say they were irritated at best. The white freckled twin fawns drinking and playing at the beaver dam didn’t yet know that someday a being like me could likely be a threat to them. The two beavers playing in the water smack in the middle of my scene certainly didn’t realize I was there, as they made no warning slaps on the surface. The blue herons sound is kind of funny like a loud rusty cranking noise and definitely didn’t like me in his space! Made me laugh. All the while the orange sherbet sky enveloped and loved us all unifying us as one in soft harmony. Tonight, it was simply enough that I was there, part of Gods creation.- Kami Mendlik"
