PRAIRIE FIRE

My interpretation in the movement of this particular piece of wood, was to convey the appearance of fire and fury. As North America’s fastest land animal, the pronghorn felt appropriate to capture the look and feel I was seeking.

Fires on the grasslands of the American west were and are a necessary part of the prairies ecosystem. When they occur, these fleet “Ghosts of the prairie,” can attain the speed and agility required to outdistance the impending flames. “Prairie Fire” captures the essence of this drama."

Prairie Fire - Pronghorn - Driftwood Carving.  An artist and exhibit builder, sculpture has surfaced as Jim Biesinger's favorite form to create artwork.  Each piece is truly a one of a kind creation.

"As a retired exhibit designer at the Minnesota Zoological Gardens,  I can now fully devote my artistic skills to do what I love in producing my own creations.

I developed a passion for wildlife and art in my youth.  A life observing and working with animals has fine-tuned my skills in capturing their form, movement and spirit.

Recently, driftwood has provided a perfect canvas to adapt, morph and elaborate the movement and rhythm I like to express in my sculptures.  In this sculpture of a sable antelope, the driftwood suggested an elegance with it's sweeping motion, bends and twists.  I quickly saw it take form into the striking, impressive and majestic creature it is.

I hope my art will inspire the viewer to appreciate and protect the beauty and gift of wildlife.  - Jim Biesinger"
